Mr. V.P Kunhimoideen Kutty
Founder

A man's life is truly successful when he uplifts the lives of people around him who might otherwise have failed. That is how the epoch-making Mr. VP Kunhimoideen Kutty brought color and flavor to their dreams. He started acquiring small plots of land from many people in the early 1980s at the top of rural Pookkattiri Hill (Angadikkunnu), Edayur Village, Malappuram District. He had a great vision to help the destitute, including orphans, the needy, and other socio-economically backward classes without access to quality education.

After successfully acquiring the required land, he prepared the soil to implant the seed of education in 1997 by gathering around him a group of educationists and Philanthropists under the Orphans Educational Charitable Trust, Edayur. Thanks to his efforts, the Safa Group of Educational Institutions emerged well-equipped to enlighten the region.

The institutions under Safa Group are Safa English School (Affiliated with CBSE), Safa Montessori, Safa Arabic College (Affiliated with the University of Calicut), Safa College of Arts and Science (Affiliated with the University of Calicut)

About Safa Group

“If we want to impart education best suited to the needs of the villagers, we should take the Vidyapeeth to the villages. In a democratic scheme, money invested in the promotion of learning gives a tenfold return to the people even as a seed sown in good soil returns a luxuriant crop” – Mahatma Gandhi

An inevitable component in the development of rural communities is education. It helps to keep rural communities sustainable and develop overall. Pookkattiri is a rural area with virtually few educational options. Additionally, the community's socioeconomically disadvantaged groups were unable to access superior educational opportunities. The number of women enrolled in higher education was comparatively small. At this time, educationalist Mr. V.P Kunhimoideen Kutty had the great vision to create educational institutions in collaboration with philanthropists and prominent personalities of the society. He dedicated his life to advancing society via education through the establishment of the Orphans Educational Charitable Trust in 1998.

The nonprofit organization launched an English-medium school in 2000, affiliated to CBSE Delhi, which opened a door to access eminence school education. In 2009, Safa College of Arts and Science was instituted, creating opportunities in the higher education sector in the region, successfully pursuing its purpose. The college is situated at Pookkatiri, on a scenic hillside with sweeping views of the surrounding lush foliage, within an expansive campus. It is situated 5 kilometers away from Valanchery in the Malappuram District, towards Perinthalmanna.
