ANTI-SEXUAL HARASSMENT CELL

The institution is committed to providing a safe and conducive environment for students and women at the workplace as per the ‘Sexual Harassment of woman employees and students in the higher institutions act (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. Under the Act, the meaning of sexual harassment includes any one or more of the following unwelcome acts or behaviour.

• Physical contact and advances

• A demand or request for sexual favours

• Making sexually coloured remarks

• Showing pornography

• Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature

The cell, which is a part of Internal Complaint Committee cell, aims to fully aware students of their rights and available defences against sexual harassment.:

Functions:

    • Policy Development: Developing and implementing comprehensive policies and guidelines to prevent and address sexual harassment in accordance with national laws and regulatory requirements.
    • Awareness and Training: Organizing workshops, seminars, and training sessions to raise awareness about sexual harassment, consent, gender sensitivity, and bystander intervention among students, faculty, and staff.
    • Complaint Mechanism: Establishing a confidential and accessible mechanism for reporting incidents of sexual harassment, including designated officers, helplines, online platforms, and physical complaint boxes.
    • Investigation and Resolution: Promptly investigating reported cases of sexual harassment in a fair and impartial manner, ensuring confidentiality, sensitivity, and respect for the rights of both the complainant and the accused.
    • Support Services: Providing support services such as counseling, legal assistance, and medical support to survivors of sexual harassment to help them cope with trauma and navigate the reporting and resolution process.
    • Preventive Measures: Implementing proactive measures to prevent sexual harassment, including promoting gender equality, fostering a culture of respect and consent, and addressing power imbalances within the college community.
    • Policy Compliance and Monitoring: Monitoring compliance with anti-sexual harassment policies and regulations, conducting regular audits, and evaluating the effectiveness of prevention and response measures.
    • Collaboration and Advocacy: Collaborating with external organizations, government agencies, and community groups to advocate for policies and initiatives aimed at preventing sexual harassment and promoting gender equality.
